Maybe it should be a rule that if I go a while without blogging, it’s simply mandatory that I do a really long post with tons of pictures. So, here ya go!
I’ve often said that one of my favorite parts of being a photographer is all the people I meet who become friends, some have even come to be some of my close friends. I met Laura and her husband Cory when they were awaiting their first baby. We giggled pretty much through the entire maternity session. I know every session will be filled with good laughs. Every time I find out something new, I just adore them even more. They truly encompass everything I love about being a family photographer. I’ve been extremely honored to not only watch that baby grow throughout the years into one of the funniest little guys I know, but also to watch him become a big brother to a beautiful little girl.
Being chosen to photograph a birth is one of the greatest honors because it is THE most important thing to photograph and it is so intimate. It’s also the most beautiful moment to photograph. No matter the circumstances, all natural…c-section…home birth…hospital birth, it’s all beautiful. I was allowed in the operating room for one c-section and it was amazing, but even when I’m not able to be in the room, the moments surrounding the birth are just perfect and beautiful in themselves. The anticipation, the calm or the nerves that come over the mom just before, the excitement from the family, the first time a big brother meets his sister, the first time all the grandparents get to meet the newest grandchild, the weighing, the measuring, and all the love that is filled in each moment. It’s the most precious and special and simply amazing thing to watch and be part of. If I could choose one thing (other than my little) to photograph for the rest of my life, it may possibly be births.
Thank you Laura, Cory, D and family for including me. Here are my favorites from the day and her newborn session. Be sure to check out the slideshow of everything at the very end.
D’s faces through the whole thing crack me up. He’s just not sure about all of this craziness.
I love Laura and Cory’s relationship. These two photos sum it up…
He was there by her side the whole time.
I love that she reassured Dane first thing.
My favorite.
How nice of baby sister Q to get D a gift.
Momma’s world…
I was SO excited to photograph this precious room. Look there at the statue from my favorite artist.
What a good big brother.
The next ones maybe my favorite family newborn pictures to date.
Why do I feel like Q was telling him a joke?
Peace and SO much love,
Cilla
