family sunset session at talon winery & vineyard | lexington, ky
The sunset danced around us as the girls giggled the remaining light away. There was so much snuggling, laughing, twirling, and love. My heart nearly burst. With each moment, each click of the camera, I fell in love with them all over again. This session came after several years of trying to pin down a lake session. 2018 seemed to be the year that the lake session would finally happen until I made one of the biggest goofs I think I’ve ever made. How could this “seasoned pro” leave home without at least one fully charged battery?!? Yes…I’m going to admit it…I drove an hour before I realized it. Thirty minutes before the session. All of my batteries were dead. Completely dead. I always check my cameras before I leave, and I did check my memory cards, but somehow missed the flashing dead battery signal. I just about died right there. I called them nearly in tears. Y’all, how could I be so lucky to have client friends who dish out so much grace? I didn’t quite give myself so much grace, but I did drive home, immediately charge all my batteries, and turned on some netflix. Later we chatted and decided to go for a Talon sunset session (of course at no charge) and will try the lake again this year. It IS going to happen and I can’t wait. This entire session all I could think about is how much fun we are going to have at the lake.
These girls kept me absolutely cracking up the entire time. I am sure they fight like all siblings, but I didn’t see a bit of it. All I saw were two girls who made each other laugh…a lot…and loved each other fiercely. I loved how they attacked each other and their momma and daddy with hugs and kisses. G’s love is especially fierce and so is her personality. She could take you down with a great big G hug. B always makes me laugh because he LOVES… 😉 …photos. One of my favorite memories of B is a session we had together when they were just a family of three and we were in the literal freezing cold. B was not happy. We were all freezing. But now, I laugh at just how perfect it was. It shows just how much he loves his family. S is such a good momma and I am so thankful to call her friend. She truly enjoys her girls and let’s their personalities shine. She lets them be. And, y’all, she is filled with so much grace and beauty.
I am so thankful they continue to choose me and trust me, year after year.
One last thing…I am in love with Talon Winery & Vineyard. Seriously. It’s where we had our wedding reception many years ago and I’ve loved it ever since. When we are choosing a location for family sessions I always love to shoot in my client friends homes, but I also love shooting in a big open field…especially at sunset.
So much love sweet friends,
Cilla
