Now you know summer photo sessions are my absolute favorite. Guess where my most favorite location to shoot is? The beach. Not just any beach…the beach we visit just about every year…Honeymoon Island. Now, I am sure that I would love shooting at any beach when I have that golden light and a loving family in front of me…and the sand…and the water, but Honeymoon Island feels like a second home to me. Granted, one that seems to change every year, but I have my old paths that I frequent when I’m photographing a family. We go through the trails with the palm trees and white sand that reflects the light just right and we make our way to the water. Getting all the groupings of pictures out of the way so we can all get messy and then end with that gorgeous silouhette shot (when the clouds permit). I love KY and it’s rolling hills and sunsets, but it’s just different at the beach. No necessarily better…just different. My heart is always torn between KY and this little spot of Florida.

I think what always gets me with photographing families at the beach is that it’s the physical representation of what I love to photograph on a regular basis. It’s the messy and beautiful of life amplified. By the end, if we’ve done it right, you have a fair amount of sand and salt water and wind whipping your hair all around. It’s all so beautiful…just as it is. And the light is just so gorgeous that you could be doing anything at all and it would look good. Maybe I like it because it makes my job easier? Maybe.

I have two spots remaining for family signature sessions at Honeymoon Island…which is in the Tampa Bay area…near Clearwater the end of June and beginning of July. Those dates or the location don’t work for you? I’m up for traveling! I want to capture your messy and beautiful everywhere and anywhere…the beach just…ya know…makes it a touch sweeter.
